I saw an article some months ago about the molecular patch mentioned in the above article and tried not to get my hopes up too much ...
Fortunately I don't have the Duchene form of muscular dystrophy (which invariably kills people by the age of 20 or so), but if the treatment works for them then there's no reason why it won't work for us facioscapulohumeral sufferers.
For the last 17 years I've been on a voluntary research program - once a year I go to the orthopaedic hospital in Oswestry and let them do various tests on me. The pay-back I get is that I'm near the front of the queue should a cure or a treatment be developed.
Feel free to reply using words like "Cool", "Good news" and "If you're cured can I come round and kick your ass?".

You have what stuck in your ear?

Me too, I feel like dishing out a good ass kicking. Can we book places in the line? :P
#3 MD along with MS (totally different illnesses, but similar symptoms)

Agreed, 1.3 million is a good deal but hopefully more will be put in in the not-too-distant future.
I really hope they can get a cure sorted out for a few reasons. #1 so I can come round and kick your ass. #2 I have a friend with MD. #3 MD along with MS (totally different illnesses, but similar symptoms) have to be amongst the most horrible conditions out there. #4 If they manage to use this technique successfully then hopefully they could use it for other illnesses as well.

Weakened and slowly wasting muscles. The form I have, FSH, is only supposed to affect my face, shoulders and upper-half of my arms, although it basically affects every external muscle I have - face, arms, legs, back, neck etc.
