Only for the barometer to be gone and in its place is a pop-up that says "good news - your exhange will be broadband enabled before the 4th of august 2004". Cue the celebratory dancing and a trip to adslguide.org to see if they could shed some light on what just happened.
Apparently our exchange is part of a Scottish Lowlands Partnership, i dont know any more details than that, but to be honest i dont really care, im getting broadband and thats all that matters.
If there are people out there who still havent met their trigger, dont despair. There is always hope. :)
> is 150K fast enough for serious fragging UT2004 style?
Yeah 150K is plenty. The ping would be the same as the 600K service, but the 600K allows you to download at a faster rate. If your sharing the connection with more than 1 PC then when someone is using the internet on another computer you would notice more of a drop in ping than if you had 600K, but if its just you then you wont need to worry.
> (Im paying £15.99 for a dial up with aol that only ever hits 40000bps)!!
Hmm, that is pants, i get 52,000.
It'll be suitable enough for fragging on UT2004.
150k for £17.99 (Im paying £15.99 for a dial up with aol that only ever hits 40000bps)!!
or
600k for £24.99....
The guys are coming to install everything next Tuesday, just a question:
is 150K fast enough for serious fragging UT2004 style?
They seem to surpass pipex and still come in a tad cheaper.
Sue 'em.
My experience of AOL, apart from the prices, slow speeds, non-existent customer service and the assimilation of Windows into the AOl software, was not bad actually.
There WILL be WAR if they do bill me again before June though
