Not as in the films or the stories, but the 'Alien' itself, the horrible exo-skeletal beast.

I find it horribly fascinating, and also terrifying. I guess it's one of those things that plays on some fear (obviously) but for some reason has far more impact than other scary things and things that burst out of chests in the night.

It's just brilliantly created. It's perfectly suited to using and killing humans, it's just lethal, or the next evolutionary step as the comics keep on blabbering. I've never really seen the films, more bits of them, and just the hive, the corruption they induce in such an emotionless state of instinct......it's incredible what effect it has on me. I guess I really should watch more of the films, but to be perfectly honest, I'm scared of the beggars.

The main thing is the contrast between the humans - the way humans are always running about, AR/Flamethrower in hand and narking the odd alien, while the Alien themselves are fast, lethal, and yet are not 'bad' as such - they are just 'better' at killing their enemies and unfortunatly, the two race's instincts do not match up peacefully.

Then it's the impregnation, the bursting, the goo-y stuff and the queen..in one bit of a comic I was reading, there is a huge alien 'thing' on strands hanging between buildings, while deranged humans drag victims to it because 'it's better than surviving'.

Ughhhh! Not really sure what this is, but I guess most people have some sort of irrational fear of stuff, fictional (I hope!) or not, and Alien, a bit like the Nazgul, are absoloutely captivating, but for all the wrong reasons...

Alien, like Godfather, is nowhere NEAR as good as people say it is. Aliens is, though. Aliens rocks.

I dont think the aliens would actually be able to survive. Having an exoskeleton would mean they would have to moult, because their body size is so large they would die at the hands of that fun killer gravity.

It was inspired by a fish which uses a shell of a dead crustacean to keep it's children in.

Seen it on blue planet.

Fasinating.

I recently saw Alien and Aliens and i really dont see why most people seem to have really high opinions of them. Maybe it was coz after the amazing things i'd heard about the films i was expecting something of a visual master-piece, which neither film was.

I think David Hasselhoff, Sean Bean & Brian Blessed should be sent into defeat both the Aliens and the Predator(s?) in AvP. Hasselhoff can crush the Aliens with his manly bronzed arm muscles, or that orange float thing from Baywatch, Blessed can boom at the evil Predators until they become disorientated and then the Hawkmen will dive.

And Bean will die. Obviously. It's a winner of a script.

I keep two in a small bowl in the garage. Just last week I asked my friend to go in there and get me a hammer, and he came running out screaming, trying to pry its legs from his throat.

It dropped off, and after the bolllocking I gave him for killing one of my beloved pets, and shortly after his sternum cracked and I saw a little metallic face, he soon saw the funny side.
