Wasn't he great in... no wait, that was Bruse Willis... he was good in.. hmm... Danny Glover was good in the Lethal Weapons, does that count?...
Well he was in.. no, that sucked too.
Nevertheless, Christian America's second favourite pin-up is bringing his new gig to the UK.
What I want to know is this:
Will you go to see The Passion of the Christ ?
Personally, I'm in 2.. no, 3 minds about it:
- I'd quite like to go judge for myself whether it really is anti-semitic, and by the sounds of things it's probably a fairly good gore fest.
- But I'm tempted to avoid it as I don't want to support the success of Gibson's venture or expose myself to a couple of hours of Christianity.
- I'm also tempted to avoid it as, for us non-believers, it'd probably be little more than a boring gore fest and I really can't be bothered with that.
Without turning the thread into a soapbox for preaching your (supposed) religious beliefs (you know who you are, get your own forum ;^p ), what are your views?
Lets keep it to the film please people!
> Im tempted to see the film to judge for myself, but i dont think my
> local cinema is showing it.
I could watch it, but I have better things to do then watch Jesus being crucified again, that is the films' basis. I'm not going to see it.
> The nun "went back in time and saw a vision of the
> crucifixion". It's true.
Heh
Genius, did she have a fluxcapacitor as well?
Forest, you're a mong if you believe all of what that guy wrote. That fool would have tried to discredit any film made about the crucifixion because he's clearly a religious zealot. For example he believes that no-one should portray the role of Jesus because it's too holy.
Considering the amount of people who have watched the film and want to know more about christianity, I'd have thought you of all people would be glad. But I guess if you're gonna believe everything you read and not actually form opinions of your own then this film is gonna stay 'satanic' in your mind.
I'm not a christian, but even I can see the stupidity of your statements.
But, well, didn't they do more or less the same thing to everyone they executed?
I'm not saying that makes it any less unpleasant, just less.. special.
I wonder what happens at the end though
> The Passion of the Christ is not a scriptual film, it has not been
> based on scripture, but on a nun's vision.
You honestly believe word for word what that guy's saying?
Heh, you're stupider than I originally presumed. I'm not a even a christian, hell I don't believe in god, but even I can see that the film is not based on heretic nuns vision and is actually based on the original scriptures. Sure Mel Gibson probably added a few bits here and there to make it more 'Hollywood', but for the most part the film stays true to the original texts.
Do you honestly think that all these high up Bishops and other such religious figures would be praising the film for it's realistic portrayal or the crucifixion if any of what this guys saying was true?
What really made me laugh in the article was the part where he went into the pasts of the actors, what in gods name has that got to do with the film? or how about the way he calls small details perverting gods words?
He actually reminds me of someone I met a while ago who thought that the NIV (new international version) version of the bible was inspired by satan. Laughable but sadly true.
Your ignorance really knows no bounds, you seem to read other peoples thoughts and use them as if they were your own opinions. Try watching the film yourself, or at least don't go around telling everyone it's satanic without having a clue.
