Dear Dr. Laura,
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind him that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate.
I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the specific laws and how to best follow them.
a) When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
b) I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
c) I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
d) Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?
e) I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?
f) A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an Abomination (Lev 11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?
g) Lev 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
h) Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev 19:27. How should they die?
i) I know from Lev 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
j) My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? (Lev 24:10-16) Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)
I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help.
Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

Could you attempt to answer some of those questions for us, Forest Fan? I'm certainly interested.

No Light, that immature attitude you have displayed, is totally opposite to what I have been insisting. Homo-sexuality is mentioned in the Bible, both in the Torah, Old Testament and in the New Testament as I will show you;
EVIDENCE #1
"On the contrary, you yourselves wrong and defraud. You do this even to your brethren. Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor HOMOSEXUALS, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God." 1 Corinthians 6:8-10
EVIDENCE #2
"But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and HOMOSEXUALS
and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching, according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted." 1 Timothy 1:8-11
Two pieces of evidence from the NEW TESTAMENT, there you go then.

Oh RIGHT, so the ones that are absolutely untenable in today society should be ignored, whereas the ones that you still like remain unchanged?
Heh...my God; you can't even see what a hypocrite you are, can you?

I am not "homophobic", I don't hate the gays, themselves, but the sin is just disgusting. It is abominable if a man lies with a man, just as the Bible says,
"You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination." Leviticus 18:22
This statement of a verse, has never changed. Simple.

So why the need to be so homophobic then?

3,500 years ago the questions were relevant, but like I have said the law has been fufilled and change, thus no longer the need for all the rules and regulations.

They did know what they were doing. Nailing a man to a cross. It's pretty straightforward really...
Slavery was used, not to make money by selling people, but as a last resort for an Israelite to cover his debts. They had a lot rights, could buy themselves back if they came into money somehow, or could be bought back by relatives. Come the Jubilee year, which was once every 50 years, all slaves in the nation were released.
As for the period one, well it is actually really easy to tell when a woman is having her period. She gets spotty and moody. Anyway, it was a cleanliness law because Israel never had tampons and panty liners. These cleanliness laws extended to things like touching dead bodies, and dumping outside the camp rather than inside. They all contributed to the nation being healthier. Of course, in the past nobody actually understood what these laws were for. Nowadays we know of bacteria etc, and these laws actually make sense.
That is it basically. The laws served a purpose once, but are no longer needed as the Mosaic Law has passed.

No it means the Lord had to change how we act, i.e. in Aaron's time there were many sacrifices, but today Jesus' one sacrifice on the cross is suffeceint forever.

Because God doesn't use violence or his power for evil. He loves everyone. When he was being beaten up and nailed to a cross, he was still saying in his head "lord they don't know what they're doing. forgive them."
Obviously not as a direct quote because I'm not 2000 years old...
