"Conversation Starters...what are the classics?"

As a few of you know I'm going out with some students to a club but because they are students I only have a couple of things in common with a few of them. This means that apart from "Hi, how are you?","What you been doing?", "How's uni going?" and so on are the only things I can think of saying before i run out of ideas. Hopefully when we're all rat ar$ed I wont need to say anything but it's the whole sober stage at the start I need to fill. Come on, what should I say? I am sooooooo timid, take pity on me and tell me all your classic convo starters. Go on, thanks y'all

I don't know how it goes either, but you could've at least attempted a rhyme. It'd be a good bet, wouldn't it?

Yeh they go to this film group with me. We get grants from all these different sources and then make short movie to enter into film competitions all over the globe. I'm the "new guy" and they invited me to go out with them. Who am I to refuse eh? They don't mind about the age thing though. It's less of an issue than I would have thought.
