Rented this last night, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The action scenes are so utterly over the top - it's just brilliant. The story seems to have been contrived not to give the action some kind of meaning, but to simply cram in as many fantastic scenes as possible.

Fantastic cast too - perhaps not all used to their maximum potential, but with such a large cast, that was never going to be possible. Johnny Depp is great, contriving everything that goes on for ther most part, as a CIA agent, that wears a t-shirt with CIA on it in big letters.

I urge everyone to see this movie, it's absolutely crazy, but in a very good way.

You're right. You do write a lot more when you dislike a film.

I loved it, even more than Desperado. Rodriguez was clearly loving not taking anything seriously. Depp's fake arm, "Can you dig it?", comedy electric guitar fabrication, Danny Trejo showing up again...

Brilliant. And I loved the shot, chopped & scored credit bit.

I thought Spirited Away was better though. Until she fell in love with a river.

I did a trade off with my friend a while back. I'd go with her to see Once Upon A Time In Mexico - she has, or had, a bit of a Johnny Depp thing going on - and she'd come with me to see Spirited Away.

OUATIM was laughably poor. Depp was a good actor, and stole what little show there was to steal. Other than that, the word "pants" accurately describes it. Ludicrous coincidences, rubbish plot, action sequences that made no sense whatsoever, wooden acting, etc etc. It was all there. Instead of the fight scenes making you think "Woah, cool" they made you think "What the hell?"

I can't believe Depp even went through with that, he deserves better.

EDIT: Although I should add, it does have an unintended comedy value working for it, that stopped it from being a complete wash out.

Worse than Desperado, better than El Mariachi.

I have to utterly disagree with you here. I just watched it now, well I didn't even make it to the end it was so terrible.

They introduced random characters, flicked between spanish/mexican and english language and fought seemingly randomly.

It was like Bollywood only with gunslinging, not dancing.

**** Officially a waste of time/money *****

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
