I got one of these free Mercury 10/100 Mbps ethernet cards today and I'm trying to install it onto a PC with Windows 98SE.

It's all in there, just I can't install any of the drivers because Windows can't find any of the smaller files on the disk even though it says it's found the driver and it's gonna install it.

Is there a driver that I could download off of the net to get it to work or am I stuffed?

Plus is connecting an XP to a 98 PC hard? I'm just looking around now, I know it isn't as easy as XP to XP!

I gave up with Win 98, it just wasn't going to install that card. It kept telling me that it couldn't find files on the driver disks and stuff like that.

I installed XP and it didn't need to install the card at all, it was just all there.

Handy that.

There we go. I'm in the lounge controlling the PC next door.

It's great.

And I can go on the internet at the same time.

I just installed my copy of XP on the other PC and now everything's working.

Hurrah!

Need to sort out this remote desktop thing now so that I can connect to the other PC and control it...
