Today my dad found a wallet today containing £400 + a few hundred Euros + Credit Cards and usual wallet stuff. He found it outside a shop so he walked in and with the details in the wallet discovered that it belonged to a regular customer of this shop. So my dad left his details incase the man wanted to thank him or whatever. And about 10 minutes ago, this man calls and thanks him etc.

I started thinking about what I would have done in the same situation as my dad. Would I have gone in the shop and given the wallet in? Would you?

Of course not. Someone may have worked bloody hard to earn that £400, or it could be some kids birthday money or something. To keep it would be to be a thief.

When he called to say thanks he offered my dad some champagne. My dad didn't accept, he just said he was glad this man had got his wallet back.

Lindgren has the right idea, and even if there is no ID, just give it into the police and if no one claims it you get to have it. Or maybe you get some kind of reward. I'd offer an award if someone returned it to me.
