I'm not telling him to give up, I'm asking him to consider the fact that it wasn't meant to be, where as you are saying 'console yourself with the fact that one day she will be yours'. He has no way of knowing that, and to think such a thing can only be damaging, especially if she were to get further and further away.
And as far as I can gather, he's only known her for a month - how can he possibly know whether they are suited or not?

it's about more than getting them into the sack, if that is your only motive then it would have been obvious.
