I'm buying an electric guitar next week some time and I'm not going to pay for lessons (Spending all my cash on the guitar) so I need a reasonably priced guide book to help me learn. I really don't know a great deal about music so It would have to be a beginners book - I know a few of you here play the guitar so I wondered if you had any recommendations, or perhaps books you don't use any more and would lend/sell me.

Cheers as always guys.

I would simply pretend I had never read it.

Steve Vai is the greatest guitarist ever.

I'll probably dismiss your comment anyway.

I was just telling a mate how much I hate that song. I'd tell you but I don't have enough energy.

I always wanted to play acoustic but I started off on my brothers old Yamaha Pacifica, and damn good it was too. I now have a lovely Taylor Big Baby acoustic, such a gorgeous guitar...

Oh and listen to Memo, Encore's are crap.

Not much to add really, just thought I'd brag :-)

I'm having far too much fun with these tags...

Encore's are custom PRS's in comparison to Satellites.

Yamaha Pacificas are £150 with a 10w amp from www.soundslive.co.uk

And like I said, it's not about finding the cheapest one - what's the point in getting one at £100, then realising after 2 months that you hate it and want another one? If you start off with a half-decent guitar it'll be....better.

www.gak.co.uk is good too.

Encore make the worst guitars in existence.

Yeah anything by Troy Stetina is good. The merits of being completely self-taught though are obvious - your style and techniques will be completely new and original. Just look at Incubus...all self-taught...

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
