I don't see what the big deal was with the Playstation. Everyone bought it over the N64. My friends used to think it had better graphics than N64 :S. The only reason why I would buy a Playstation would be MGS.

Not everyone, just crazy people that bought it because it was 'cool'.

What about Final Fantasy, Gran Tourismo, Tekken, Grand theft Auto, Crash Banditcoot, Tomb Raider, WWF: Smackdown...Surely the N64 couldn't beat this sort of games line up, thats why it failed miserably.

Final Fantasy, ok, they're pretty decent in the main, Gran tourismo isn't really the sort of game I go for but I can understand why some people like it. Tekken though, that's not so great, it's very easy to complete the main game and the only good game of the series was Tekken 3. GTA, well the PS2 versions are far better and the original Crash Bandicoot was quite poor though I'll admit I have a soft spot for the second and third installments. Tomb Raider, good I suppose, but Smackdown? You're scraping the bottom of the barrel there.
As for the N64, Super Mario 64, the best 3D platform game, Banjo-Kazooie, a close second, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, possibly the greatest game ever, Majora's Mask, another classic, Conker's Bad Fur Day, the funniest game ever, and Super Smash Brothers, a genius beat 'em up.

Smackdown? Yeah, it was OK, but no-where near as good as No Mercy on the N64. To me, No Mercy still remains as the best wrestling game of all time. Even over the latest Smackdown games for gameplay.

But Final Fantasy VII was best selling role playing game ever. Many PSone games sold much more and proved the console to be more popular as this generation enjoys different games, not the Nintendo made games anymore. Maybe thats why the Gamecube failed. It will be interesting to see the GC2,PS3 and Xbox 2 compete.
