RICKY TURNS DOWN BART
Ricky Gervais has turned down the honour of being in The Simpsons.
The Office star has also reportedly turned down a string of big-money US deals. And all because he wants to stay in Britain.
Ricky, 42, was flooded with Hollywood offers after The Office won two Golden Globe awards, according to The Sun.
One deal included his own major network show, as well as the appearance with Bart.
The papers says Ricky feels his real talents lie behind the camera. "I'm a writer, not an actor" he is quoted as saying.
"I don't want to pop up as a Mr Brit on every other television programme. I need to go home to where it rains," he said.
In the near future, he is set to write and produce the US version of The Office before concentrating on a BBC sitcom about insurance salesmen.

Sorry, but who would turn down a part on The Simpsons?!
> compared to episodes from a season like 4, 5 or 6, the newer episodes
> are dire to say the least.
Yup. Still sometimes funny, but compair the recent episodes to them at their height, and they are criminally bad.
The evil jockies/ Barts racehorse with attidude episode was when I finally thought "I'm not watching this crap"
> have you actually seen any new Simpsons episodes?
Yup. And they still make me laugh.
There have been better, granted... but it's been going for so long that it must be hard to keep turning out absolute top-quality material. You try writing a comedy show for 14 years, and see how original and constantly hilarious you are! :-)
It's still funnier than most of the so-called comedy on TV.
Now instead of an occasional celeb popping up it's full of people like Tony Hawk and bloody N'Sync or whatever.
It's still great
> Good for him. The Simpsons now solely consists of celebrity guest
> spots and mostly unfunny comedy sketches. It's rubbish.
It's Saturday Night Live then.
"Comic Ricky Gervais has denied press reports that he turned down a role in US cartoon The Simpsons.
A spokeswoman for The Office star said Simpsons creator Matt Groening had asked Gervais if he wanted to do a voice for the show.
"Ricky said he would love to so it might happen, but he won't be doing it as David Brent," said the spokeswoman.
She said Golden Globe winner Gervais thought the cult cartoon show was the best thing on TV."
He just doesn't want to keep rehashing Brent, and I admire him for that personally.
