RICKY TURNS DOWN BART
Ricky Gervais has turned down the honour of being in The Simpsons.
The Office star has also reportedly turned down a string of big-money US deals. And all because he wants to stay in Britain.
Ricky, 42, was flooded with Hollywood offers after The Office won two Golden Globe awards, according to The Sun.
One deal included his own major network show, as well as the appearance with Bart.
The papers says Ricky feels his real talents lie behind the camera. "I'm a writer, not an actor" he is quoted as saying.
"I don't want to pop up as a Mr Brit on every other television programme. I need to go home to where it rains," he said.
In the near future, he is set to write and produce the US version of The Office before concentrating on a BBC sitcom about insurance salesmen.

Sorry, but who would turn down a part on The Simpsons?!
> At last - someone not 'selling out'
This gives me an idea for a thread.
The characters have all totally changed for the worst and the new writers seem to think that bringing more sex related jokes is a good thing, when in actual fact it just seems totally out of character and the fact that it's all so badly written doesn't help at all.
It's a bad sign when the computer game brought out based on the show is 10 times funnier than the last 3 series put together.

I don't like them, I don't watch them. I prefer to remember when the series was funny and fresh. I like to remember having a good number of gut laughs an episode, as opposed to the now occasional slight smile.
I also stopped watching "X Files" when it turned poor, and started watching "Star Trek : Voyager" when it started gtting interesting (I.e . Harlon Ellison got involved, and some hard SF ideas came into the show)
(N.b. all opinions are stated above are my own. You may think ST : V is naff and X-files was always bad. Hell, I hate Buffy, Angel and Stargate, so lets not get into a mudslinging match eh?)

How is hour after hour of 'Homer bangs his head or drinks beer' jokes aiming at an older audience? And where do the evil jockeys fit in?
And if you don't like the new episodes, don't watch them. Pretty simple really.
I watched one where Homer was prescribed medicinal marajuana - I laughed about three times. That's a laugh every seven minutes. That's not right.

I'd like it if they cut down the number of episodes so that we only get the quality ones. I did see a new episode that was really good a few weeks back - where Moe makes friends with Maggie - so they can obviously still do it on occasion but the majority of the newer episodes are sacreligiously bad.
