Ahh Shenmue, why ever were you denied a third installment?!
Also for FPS games the PC is the best choice out of all the platforms as it has all the top FPS and more.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I've never worked with the dev kits for any of these consoles, but I did do a degree in it, so I do know what I'm talking about. Other than a few select PS2 games the graphics for it *are* worse than Xbox or Gamecube. It really just does not have the hardware for it. As you say, it is down to the developer, but the Xbox is so easy to develop for, I could build games for it now, on this PC. And if I had any sort of art skills, they would look better than if I turned my hand to the PS2 because that requires effort to look good, it doesn't with the Xbox. That's the beauty of a PC architecture.
The same goes to a degree with the Gamecube. It is basically a Mac architecure and is also easy to develop for. You have to be incompetant to make either the Xbox or Gamecube look bad, but skilled to make the PS2 look good. PGR2 is much nicer looking in every sense to GT3 incidentally.

Good animation. I just did not like their cell shading though. It wasn't right for a Zelda game I felt. It isn't even the best looking game on the GC, so it isn't going to be the best of this generation.

PGR2, again. ESPN NHL Hockey (it requires a lot more polygons at any one time than I ever would have thought). But the single best looking game of this generation is probably Otogi. Sheer graphical goodness.

This is true. But the hardware gap remains, so if the PS2 was pushed to its limit it still wouldn't look as good as the Xbox or GC pushed to their limit.

Fair point. Resident Evil just is not doing it for me, been there done that back on the PS. I like my FPS and racers. For that Xbox is the best choice.

Not quite. You need a Saturn dude!

Im not joking that speed is 233mhz and it for 32-bit i thought it was a bit much
Do you think i meant graphics cos thats what im going on about

This still cracks me up. How many times will people continue to say the Xbox has the best graphics? Its down to the developer and how much time they are willing to invest in the hardware, capiche? Certain PS2 games look equally as good as anything on the market and GT3 to this day remains arguably the prettiest driving game ever yet the PS2 is classed as inferior hardware.
Oh and Zelda: Wind Waker for me still remains the most superbly animated and graphically damn right stupendous out of any game of this current generation, bar none.
The only game to really push the boat out with the Xbox hardware was Dead or Alive 3, since then some have come close (Project Gotham Racing 2 and Splinter Cell but to name a couple) however none have lived up to the overall "wow" factor that Dead or Alive 3 had/has.
Ninja Gaiden from what I gather took the combat and graphical engine straight from Dead or Alive 3 and by all accounts it is the best graphical console game of this generation.
Again though, this isn't the hardware thats done this solely on its own, its the developers initiative to actually use the hardware to whatever potential they wish. Neither of the top 3 consoles have been fully pushed for all that they are worth and I doubt they actually.
Oh and there is no such thing as the best console, its preference that takes precident, for me the Cube with the Resident Evil series, Eternal Darkness and all the kick ass stuff Nintendo and Capcom have managed to cook up for the Cube remains my "favourite" console of this generation on current track record.
Now I am back as a PC/Nintendo gamer I'm not really fussed as I get the best of all worlds.
ah! see. I have opened up my gba and the microproccesors do equal up to 233mhz so there :-p
Gamecube 1st
