My cousin got an email from SR today telling him Jade Empire was out and despite me telling him it wasn't, we decided to look anyway just for the sake of going for a drive to look at games and stuff.

I checked on this site in case some mistake had been made with the JE release and thats when I saw GunGriffon was out and in stock. Never heard of this coming out and don't know of any reviews of it (which is normally a bad thing). But besides it being a mech game, it also had Tecmo's name on the cover so I thought sod it, they've earned the benefit of the doubt and grabbed it.

Played the first mission and I think its pretty cool actually. Not the sexiest graphics ever, but its a fun shooter. Also XBox Live playable so I'll have to try that later. I picked up the last one in SR Basildon and my cousin picked up a copy in Gamestation.

I think anyone who picked up the likes of Phantom Crash all that time ago are the ones that will probably find plenty to like in this game. Its kinda like Steel Battalion, only with a normal controller.

You'd have a job trying to be as useless as the bloke you get lumbered with in this game mate. ;-) I've just had to turn it off for now before I go insane and take the surrounding five streets with me.

Gonna go back to editing the bloody teams ansd players on Pro Evo to make them right. Yes I know I'm sad. ;-)

Steady on, I haven't even played with you in co-op yet. ;D

Yeah thats a pretty decent comparison. The developers just haven't provided the tools for the player to do the job they're asking. I'm seriously wondering if they tested this out, cause surely they would have realised somethings they needed to change.

At least some form of dodge move to help avoid a lot of the oncoming attacks. Cause most attacks just seem to hit you no matter what cause of the splash damage and they're piloting the same kind of mechs you are.

So essentially you're fighting against enemies that are just as capable of smashing you up as you are them. Fair enough of course if you want realism, but then at least be consistant with it - no prat army or country is gonna be like "Wow, the whole of mankind depends on this mission being a success ! Thats why we're sending you in alone ! Oh...... but take that dribbling spasticated retard with you, he hasn't had a day out in ages, we'll dump him in a wheelie bin to assist you."

Sounds like a Mech Version of Enclave.

Just to get myself out of any trouble later with people buying this from my comments - I only recommend this if you're going to play on the co-op. Cause as a 1 player game, it rapes you to the point of mental scarring. Starts off all shy, getting you all into it in the first mission, then BANG, nothing but constant anal penetration from there.

Arg! I hate timed missions.

Co-op could be a serious blast though.

You get to pick the loadout for you and your support bloke (if you can call him "support". The biggest problem I have with the game is that you have no kind of dodge moves to avoid enemy fire and you face stupid amounts of firepower. Plus it likes to throw in time limits to make sure you don't go using silly things like strategy or take your time picking some of the enemies off with sniper shots.

Can get very frustrating. Looks like it could be better in co-op, but then it helps if there are other players around.

What are the weapons like? Is it simple blasting like Mech Assault or is there more depth?

Its like a faster Steel Battalion. I'd say a little faster paced than Mech Assault with a choice of third of first person view (first person obviously being an inside the cockpit view).

If I were more of a Mech fan I'd probably grab it.

You mentioned Phantom Crash, does it play at the speed of Phantom Crash or is it more of a Mech Assault affair?
