And coin, the 9550 (not SE) is roughly the same power as a 9600Pro, which is about 2-3fps off that of a 9600XT
So sue me!

Mid: ATi Radeon 9800 Pro (£90+) or nVidia 6600GT (£110+). Should last a bit longer, but not actually that much better than the 9600XT...
Do explain.... :P

I have to agree; theres simply no comparison between the 9800Pro and the 9600XT, Completely different leagues.

Just like the 9800pro being not that much better than the 9600xt
Not that much better, blah.
It in fact kicks it ass.

*Evil Cackle*
The X800XT PE is officially the most sought after graphics card that never went into full production. ATI shifted to production of the X850XT/PE pretty much as soon as they announced the X800XT/PE. I doubt anyone will EVER find this little gem anywhere - all known cards were snapped up at horrendously high prices AGES ago. The rest are modded X800 Pro cards.
If playing games... (all prices are new, unless stated)
Budget - ATI 9550 128MB costing about £50, almost as good at the 9600XT, and doesn't cost almost 100
Mid range - 9700Pro 128MB at about £90 if you can find one, or a second hand 9800Pro 128MB at about the same price, perhaps a little lower
Upper Mid range - 6600GT 128/256MB costing about £140, or a 6800nu 128/256MB- better than the 6600GT but costs about £180
Lower High end - X800XL 256MB (bit hard to get in AGP) at about £200-220. Much better card than the 6800nu and earlier cards and is my price performance choice at the moment.
Speedwise it's pretty much neck and neck, give or take a few fps, sometimes in its favour, sometimes not, with the 6800GT which costs upto £280-290, the x800xl much better card imo for the price, and performs better in several DirectX games
High-end - X850XT 256MB or 6800 Ultra 256MB Both around 300-350. The X800XT/XTPE is also not much worse, and due to its discontinued status might be found more cheaply. The X850XT is slightly better of the two cards.
