True or not, Nintendos E3 presence won't be that noticable if this happens, even Zelda will only spark a minute amount of interest compared to the other two consoles planned to be unveiled at the show.

event, hands down.

No the casual gamer will think "oh look at the PS3, when's it due out? 2006? cool", and "look at the X-box360, due this year? no way!"
It won't matter because Revolution is not due out yet.
People will talk about it next year when THEY'RE SUPPOSED TOO!
Your DS example is a good one, the DS was unveiled in May then released in November. So why should Revolution be unveiled a year earlier than that?
Revolution will be talked about, there is a bit Nintendonline announcement coming, maybe a good few videos or at least the hardware specs unveiled... and the partners confirmed.
The Revolution is not finished yet and why would Nintendo show a console off that has a load of good new features (apparently) which Microsoft can steal and implement in their console 12 months before Revolution hits the shelves?
The fact is Nintendo have got to push their other products for 2005, begin talking about 2006... oh yes... like that Zelda trailer... talking of 2006. But the biggest push came with the DS, as it was due that year.
And Zelda will be playable alond with DS online and a host of Pokemon titles, new Gamecube titles and what you normally expect at E3 games shows.
No-one else cares.
People want to see the machines. You saw how crazy everyone went when the DS was pulled out.
It'll only hurt Ninty in the long run if they can't show everyone they're still fighting.
This is the headline for everything. The new consoles. Everything has already been overshadowed.
What would you like? Sony and Microsoft show off their new consoles, while Ninty give us a new Zelda trailer?
I wonder which will get the most attention ...
But if Ninty show off the Revolution as well - as well as more Zelda stuff, more GC stuff, much more DS stuff, they'll rule the whole event, hands down.
Without the console - and it doesn't matter what you think, you're a sensible person, it matters what the massive amount of tech-hungry casual gamers think - Ninty will always been seen as the one company who didn't deliver like the others did.
And they're behind again before they've even started.
What's the point in overshadowing other news???
Why???
Why tell everyone to get the new Zelda whilst showing them next years games console?
Why overshadow existing products?
I'd perhaps understand if you were accusing me of being biased and one sided but I'm not the only one that thinks this, NGC and Matt from IGN all agree it maybe a tad early to fully show the Revolution.
People want to see the machines.
That's that.

and Nintendo say the Revolution is going to be really good! but

The extent PS3 will be there is also not decided, Sony won't show too much as it is due next year. Then again Sony do not have THAT much to show for the PSP and PS2 so there is likely to be more PS3 than Revolution.
Revolution is gunning for different people, it does not need to overshadow the competiton yet, leave that to the release day.

Yes but it distracts from the hardware and software due this year, if I were Nintendo it is important to hark on about the noline service and Zelda and the load of new Pokemon games (some true gems in there of course) and have Revolution present but to a minimal degree.
Nintendo need the public talking about Pokemon XD, Zelda and DS online because they are all products due this year. Sure Revolution news needs to start building here but it is important not to try and get caught up overshadowing Microsoft and really push the new product next year.
But it's a good issue for discussion and deserved to be brought up again. :)
Erm, yeah so, I suppose we have to wait until E3 to find out the real deal of Nintendos happenings.
