Yeh that really sucks doesn't it? I got told off for using smileys and saying "lol" and "heh" too much though so I don't use them anymore.

Cub!st, the trouble is, without being able to express yourself with your voice on these forums, then the absense of a smiley to a jokey comment can make it seem like an insult.
