A film everyone seems to have seen, except me.

What on earth is it about? I seem to confuse it with Armageddon but I dont think it is anything like that at all.

Firstly is it any good and secondly what is it about?

Might be my next impulse buy.

Thanks chief. Might rent it, I think it will be in the cheapy section like £1 for a week.

Vietnam war film.

Charlie Sheen (forget his characters name) is tasked to go and deal with a rogue US commander who has gone slightly nuts and become the leader of a vicious tribe of people who've carved out their own mini kingdom. Sheen's character has to first get up to where this guy is though and joins a navy boat crew (basically 3 kids and a guy with some experience) for the journey up river. Throughout the journey you see the war being waged all around, one particulalry memorable bit being when the crew are transported by a slightly insane colonel and his unit aboard helicopters, and other stuff, all set to music in places. REDUX adds more scenes which ARE well worth seeing and complement the film nicely making it more rounded - they include a French plantation chapter which is interesting.

Well worth seeing.

don't get the redux version, it lasts about eight hours

it's a bit slow and epic, i prefer the insta-thrills and gratuitous swearing of Full Metal Jacket
