Indeed! Firefox rawks\m/ Download it, take a little time exploring it and getting all you plugins and you'll never use IE again. And for those sites who require IE, download the useragent switcher as you can fool servers into thinking Firefox is IE!

Most of them patch back door issues with IE, some of them quite vital, just read through the list and decide, but knowing how borked IE is it would be safer to download all of them. Otherwise, use a different, more stable and secure browser.
I think there's a valuable lesson here in why not to use "dodgy" OS's

Just go for all of the critical updates. These are probably the most important. Otherwise... Go with Firefox!
