Is there any hope for us........

Let me guess, you're a telegraph reader....
Even so, how fired up do you need to be to take a penalty?
Owen's against Pompey was probably the worst attempt I've ever seen.
Missing a penalty by kicking it over or wide is one thing. Having it saved is another.
Owen took that as if he didn't want to play any more Cup games. It was so soft that Stevie Wonder would've had time to have directions shouted at him and get down to it!
Maybe he had a few grand riding on the result, eh? ;-)
His management skills aren't the problem in my opinion (but they don't help), it's his seemingly inabilty to get his players fired up for what they're doing. This may be because he HAS taken them as far as they will go under hm, and now they need someone new.

Yes, but Leeds have had mis-management from the highest level and financial problems too!
I was reading earlier that Houllier has spent £120 million on 28 players since taking sole charge in 1998. Not too dissimilar to Ranieri, but over a longer time.
In all fairness that should be Houllier's job and although he has done a decent job at Liverpool it's time for them to get someone in who can drive them on to success.

Exactly.
And you're right about everything else you said too :P
Both the Players/Manangement morale seems to down at the moment and there doesn't seem to be anyone to give them that lift.
In all fairness that should be Houllier's job and although he has done a decent job at Liverpool it's time for them to get someone in who can drive them on to success.
At this moment in time, they are set to lose some of their decent players in the summer if they don't get that final CL place and for Liverpool fans that must be a kick in the teeth.
But they can do it. It's only a few seasons ago they won 5 trophies!

True. But it's also only a few seasons ago that Leeds were in the CL semi's :-/
I think the fingers should be pointing to the players, not the manager.

I understand what you're saying. In fact, I was an advocate of that very thought up until the past 2 or 3 weeks. We are creating chances, so in theory, you could blame the players. But it's Houllier's job to install a fighting spirit into their minds. They go out there not really showing that they care much (Gerrard apart), and that must surely fall on Houllier's shoulders.
Alex Ferguson, I have to say, get's 100% out of his players all the time. Ok, his methods aren't always the best, but they work. Our players though, they must think they're in Dreamland; lose a game, and Houllier will just say at the end "we created chances, should have won, wait til next week, blah blah".
There's only so long he can do that before Liverpool fall off the face of European football forever.
Bring in Toshack I say.
