I bought an amplifier some years ago - an Audiolab 8000S - and paid £500 for it; it sounded absolutely superb and it still does. I wanted the CD player to go with it, but couldn't afford it, so I bought a different one instead. Since then I've hardly seen the CD player I wanted for sale anywhere because they don't make them anymore.
Lately I've been, not depressed exactly, but things in my life haven't been going as planned. I've 'umm'ed and 'arr'ed as to what I could do to cheer myself up (apart from kicking the missus out!) and the conclusion I came to was to buy myself something nice.
The next day, I was idly browsing another forum and I saw this ...
"For Sale : Audiolab 8000CDM/DAC Combo"
http://forum.hifichoice.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=9116
... and thought: "It's a sign!" If you're wondering, the 8000CDM and 8000DAC are the CD transport and digital to analogue converter (the two parts that make up a conventional one-box CD player) that match my amplifier. Hurrah!
But, then I thought "I can't afford £825!?! ARGH!!" and so I sulked for a while.
I sent a friend a jokey email asking him to lend me the money and the reply was "Sure - when do you want it?" Hang on!?! He said "Yes"?!? After I checked he wasn't cruelly winding me up, he said "You've helped me out loads of times in the past, financially and otherwise, and knowing what a sad git you are I know you'd love to buy them. So: yes." Who says Karma doesn't work?
So, there you go: my mate's lending me the money to buy what I've been wanting for about 7 years or so. Lucky me!

Yeah, I'm sure that you and your carer would have never become an item if she'd had to wipe your buttocks after a night out on lager and curry.

I know what you mean. I'm not photogenic either. :)

Those are the only photos of me in existence that come anywhere near to acceptable ...

Rumbled! It's a childhood nostalgia thing ...

It's temperamental, but it's free so no complaints - try adding 'www.' or try later. I'll be moving it soon to 'timmargh.net' and a new host.
Is the site down due to tax dodging, or is it spelt wrong, or something?

Bummer about the chair, but hey, you have a VALID excuse for not doing housework. Most men would eat from a toilet bowl for that.
