Yeah this is a good plan actually. A dedicated 5.1 decoder should do really nicely.

Top dollar though.

Unless you couple your NF2 to a 5.1 system using the SPDIF out... I have excellent quality, digital, 5.1!

Nforce 2 boards have great sound. The only need to go for an different one is either to get a 7.1 setup or to use EAX.

This makes no sense, the DFI has exactly the same sound unit as the NF7, and both are better than "the cheaper PCI 5.1 card". Furthermore they're also better quality than the 7.1 Live, they just don't come with 7 speaker outputs. But then, you don't even need 7 speakers. I have 5 speakers at the moment and I'm in the process of replacing them with two bookshelf speakers, because almost all 5 speaker systems are terrible quality - and 5 speakers are useless!

You won't need SATA. I have the Abit NF7-S and is fine for everything. The NF7 also has Soundstorm and full 6 channel surround sound capabilities and optical S/PDIF output. You really won't need a seperate soundcard unless you have great speakers, you just won't notice the difference. And even if you do have great speakers, you'll not notice much of a difference.

Oh, and I believe Turbonutter has already argued with you on the fact that the sound quality is good.

I do NOT have the money to be able to afford a £80-100 DFI Motherboard, and the Abit is sufficient for everything I need. If I require SATA later on, I merely buy a controller card.

Sorry If I rant, but I prefer not to be judged as a fool or funny, because, as a 16yr old, I don't have the money to buy top-of-the-line kit.

Oh, and take note when I say I MIGHT NOT buy another sound card, it was just an idea.

Nope.... I don't have either.

I do have the money to buy a motherboard. I DO NOT YET have the money to buy a better soundcard, as I currently earn between £20-30 a week.

What I meant was that I couldn't afford the better DFI jobby, and I am planning on getting a better sound card later on, so there was no point on shelling out for a motherboard with better sound.

I buy my components when I have the money. Not when I decide I want the best sound facilities. As I said in the later post, If I don't get the creative 7.1 AT £50 (NOTE AT OFFER PRICE OF £50), I will get a cheaper replacement card which will probably cost about £20-30.

Ther DFI offers SATA facilities, which, quite frankly, I do not need and both the board and manufacturer have been personally recomended to me by a man I know who builds computers for a living.

Try reading the entire posts backlog before you comment on whether it is funny or not.

I may not buy another soundcard, as my main concerns are system speed and graphics capability, not sound. What I say, I mean. Having good sound on the motherboard is a bonus, and will save me money in the long run, as once this system is built I will not concievably have the money to upgrade for at least another year.

This post is hilarious. You don't have enough money for a decent motherboard with a decent soundcard, but you do have enough money for a lesser motherboard and an expensive extra soundcard..?

If I remember right, a while back I found one going for about £50, If I can't find that one again, I'll go for a cheaper 5.1 creative PCI card.
