As for wireless satellite speakers, yeah it would be *techinically* possible. Although to be fully wireless they would need to be battery powered, requiring either small size and output so as not to drain the battery too quickly. Or really big to accomodate a big battery.
I would appreciate even just wireless speakers that had power cables, at least then I could position them pretty much where I wanted instead of where the length of wire let me.
The problems start to come in when you build the things. For 5.1 you would be looking at multiple channels to broadcast, all on different carrier frequencies so that the sound came out on the correct speakers. It would need to be very precise broadcasting. It is doable though in a room the size of a living room, the signal would not have to be that strong as there would be little to interfere with it or to get in the way.
The other problem would be finding a radio frequency that is unused by anything else and would not interfere with other equipment.
But it is possible.

I take it from these posts that the IDE Cable would be fine for a second DVD/CD-RW, but the drive connected with a CD-IN cable would get better sound transfer/quality?

I dont even use those.
Power + IDE cable = Fine

Crikey, I must have struck lucky with my VIA Motherboard then. Excellent features, cheap price and not a single hitch since buying it quite a while ago.

LOL! Oops... that's just me ranting in anger.... I forgot the motherboard had 5.1 sound, and was merely arguing against Miserableman's post.
If I don't get the 7.1, I probably won't get another soundcard, unless I need more than one sound input from the CD-ROM drive, as my M/B only has one CD-In. I'll keep you're quality remark in mind when I consider this, as well.
Oh... and I've been co-erced into saying that HipHopBitch says 'lo!
Not my fault...
