But I used to imagine the world getting over-populated. Too heavy. So the Earth would just drop.. somewhere. And everybody would fall off the planet.
Didn't you hear?
A pretty big one, too.

And the Boom, would send out pieces of hot rocks into the solar system which would hit other rocks/planets and create new ones?

The Earth wouldn't get absorbed (Only the planets closer than it to the sun will) but there will be a build up of energy (Nuclear) which would destroy the earth. Either that or gravitational fields would become unbalanced and we would collide with other planets in our solar system. If the the planet was heated up so much from the Nuclear Energy then we collided with many planets - The chances are a new solar system would eventually evolve.

Possible, but we'd have to be dam unlucky for that to happen.
> b) The old classic of WW3 and nuclear/chemical death etc
Perhaps, but, again, unlikely.
> c) Global warming
Potentially, but not for a long while yet. It may even be our salvation. Plans to colonize Mars depend, in part on Global Warming.
> d) Ailens invading/destroying
What for, Earth is dying, and has few natural resources left. So unless there's a Universal need for water, don't expect it.
> e) Overpopulation, end of finite reources etc
Enevitable, but perhaps alternatives will be found.

On that subject... UT2004 rocks :)
