Right I am just abouts to order some new RAM for my PC. The motherboard I am buying will be the - Abit AN7 nForce2 (Socket A) Motherboard (MB-044-AB) - chipset and I am running a 2600 XP + with Windows XP (Service Pack 1 installed). I am basically looking for the fastest, most reliable and best overclocking RAM out there at the moment.

Firstly, is it worth getting PC 3700/4000 DDR Ram? I have seen 2 x 512mb of Geil PC3700 DDR RAM for £200 delivered. I will be clocking my FSB at around 200 however depending on cooling I may take it higher. Would this RAM work with this mobo? It supports Dual DDR 400 RAM and all 3 slots can be used.

Would it be worth the extra money to get PC 3700 RAM or would PC 3200 RAM do? I am looking for the best RAM with the lowest latencys for high end gaming. Money isn't really an object so just fire away with your suggestions.

Cheers!

With dual DDR your bandwidth throughput is nearly twice that of an equivalent single DDR stick. Your access time remains the same.

Sorry Dual DDR 400 runs at twice the bandwidth only, not twice the speed. I thought you meant standard DDR RAM compared to standard SD RAM.

It runs at twice the speed as well I believe.

Does dual mean it will run twice the speed or twice the bandwidth? I thought it was only twice the bandwidth (i.e. 2 x PC3200 runs at 6.4ghz bandwidth instead of the single on which runs at 3.2ghz) i may be wrong and if so then i appologise for the hole in my knowledge in advance.

Im still getting to grips with my massive increase...

Have gone from 2x256 PC2700 running in Dual (666Mhz) to 2x512 PC3200 in Dual (800Mhz)... Toying with the idea of pushing it to 2x1GB in dual though cant go any higher than PC3200.

Well you know, having more RAM lets you run more programs quickly at the one time. It also improves overall system performance.

Maybe but its all down to opinion i mean most if not all comp games require 512mb ram at the most maybe buy 1 gig now an another gig in like 2 years maybe if needed then it should become a strong possibility.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
