A few things to add to Black Glove's comments...
Using slowfall or landing in water is a good way to be able to use those scrolls without killing yourself. You can cross about half the map in a single jump in a matter or seconds, so they can be quite handy.
Fatigue is dependant on endurance. I've not checked exactly how it's calculated, but I have a feeling it works in a similar way to heatlh - it goes up by some fraction of your endurance every time you level up. In other words, raise your endurance. Do this by using heavy/med armor and spear. I'm NOT 100% sure on this though, but I will check on it and report back later.

The scrolls of Icarusian flight: they are flawed magic. Use them and you will fly, but you will also crash land and die. Best thing to do is sell them and make some money. There are other spells and magical items that can be bought and found which will let you fly/levitate.

Swimming is a good way to improve your fatigue level and athletic abilities. These things will improve gradually over time. Patience is the key at the beginning. You'll be a powerful brute soon enough.
