I might take a year out to go and work in Canada and get some money before university. Would be fun, until the cougars came.

Anyone else done the "taking a year out" thing, and not sat at home on their fat ass watching Richard and Judy and shoveling food into their gobs?

And then there's the third bunch, who only have dreams and no realistic goal, so they go to uni to take some money wasting course on Philosophy or Sociology. Either because they can afford it, or they'll know that university is a chance to establish a hige network of contacts - and possibly get hitched with someone rich from there.

Well of course there are loads of people who know what they want, and realise that a uni education isn't needed for them toget on with their careers. Which is good, since they save thousands. But then again, lots want to be lawyers, docs and programmers (had to put that in) etc. which all require degrees of some sort.

To be honest, I wanted to stay at home and make my own games that way, but I was told not to be so lazy.

What about those who don't bother with the education? Like me.

It's the feeling of conformity; people expect you to go through education, then find a job. And people don't like change.

I worked for a couple of years before I went to Uni, which was probably a really good decision. I'll never understand why people are so desperate to go out and get degrees and careers by their early 20s.

That's the price you have to pay to be highly skilled in a certain profession.
