I might take a year out to go and work in Canada and get some money before university. Would be fun, until the cougars came.

Anyone else done the "taking a year out" thing, and not sat at home on their fat ass watching Richard and Judy and shoveling food into their gobs?

takiny a year out would be une idea tres mal.

it will cost you 6 grand more. I assume you are in year 12 at the moment as you would already have made this decision of whether or not to apply. If this is the case surely a year out would be a poor idea as it would push you back into the topup fees year and cost you a lot more

if this isn't the case ignore me as the retard i am

Alberta mainly, as well as British Columbia. There are some friends of the family that live in Toronto, as well as some cousins of mine.

Not really sure where I would head. Perhaps Toronto as there would be more job opportunities there for me. Where do your relatives live?

Yep, Canada, good choice. I could get some of my relatives over there to put you up for board. Then again they wouldn't want the likes of you... An, only joking. A year out sounds good, and the majority of people are friendly and won't beat the hell out of you or try to mug you. Where about's you headed? B.C., Alberta, Vancouver...?

I took a year out and worked full time, saved the money, and now I can just make it through uni without having to worry about debt. I only went full-time in Part-time job though nothing as extreme as working abroad.

Is it possible to get finance for a gap year?

I seriously wouldn't mind visiting Tokyo.

I know, but a few months doing a crap job isn't so bad. Not when it's in Canada, and the perks include cheap accomodation and free skiing...

Not all the ski resort jobs require skiing. A lot are for work in hotels / challets (sp?) - cleaning rooms, reception desks, bar and restauant stuff...
