The Donnie Darko DVD without the extras....

What's the point?

Cash in on 'Mad World' me thinks.

Yeah. As Goatboy said, that was a bit ridiculous.

Clash of opinion's I suppose.

It *is* a good film, and its a bad film, I just depends on what your opinion of it is.

What's this about parallel dimensions? Didn't he travel back in time at the end?

Donnie Darko sucks.

"Oooo, it's like, really clever and stuff!"
No it's not.
It's a lazy script that pulls a Scooby-Doo ending out of it's ass by completely ignoring the MASSIVE HINTS all throughout to do with time-travel and instead goes into "parallel dimensions".
Well I'm sorry Mr Writer-Director, but if you spend 90 mins talking about time-travel, having an old woman character write a pamplet about time-travel, have teachers talk about time-travel and constantly drop clues about TIME TRAVEL, to suddenly drop that aspect and yank another course-of-thought out to shove under our noses, then you have to give us rough notions beforehand.

It's called "set-up" and allows your audience to pay attention and try to figure out what's going on as you display your "Wow, nobody has ever seen Heathers!!! I'm so cool" routine.
And please, to have somebody say "Deus Ex Machina" is one of the stupidest, weakest ways to paint yourself out of a corner.
It's not deep and meaningful, it's not intense and a headjob.
It's a couple of good ideas (A 6ft rabbit! Plane Engine Smash!) in search of a decent plot with sub-Tarantino pop culture dialogue bolted on - the Smurf bit??? What point did that serve? - in an effort to give it cred.

*shrugs*
Guess I just didn't "get it" then eh Cubist?

Gah, something I've always wanted to see.

Wasn't it the predecessor to Insomnia? Or was that Adaptation...

Hardly anything to rival Six Feet Under, now is it?

Whoever mentioned symbolism has caught on as to why I love the film...

So many aspects of the movie are unexplained... hidden... difficult to spot... such a clever piece of filmography.
