"Sad news guy.

It looks like Setanta Sports are taking over the rights to ALL WWE PPVs which means we will have to pay for the lot of them.

They have signed a one year deal to take control of them.

I think this means all PPVs over here for this year are PPV for us too.

See its NEVER a good thing to start shreiking when we dont get one. Sky got p'd off, someone sees a money making opportunity and then this **** happens.

I hope anyone who kicked up a stink about us loosing one PPV here and there are happy with this."

I'm not so sure it is a bad thing. I mean, people will be saying "oh we don't get to see it live so we shouldn't pay" but really, we've had it for free for ages anyway.

It doesn't actually affect me, I stopped watching WWE a long time ago. And if I like the look of a PPV, I download it.

At least we're guarenteed a decent service.

BTW, Royal Rumble full 30-min previews have started on Sentanta. Pretty good, better then the five minute crap we got before.

Errr...discuss.

Luckily before I hit post, I found this:

"Irish broadcaster Setanta Media acquired the rights to broadcast World Wrestling Entertainment PPVs in Great Britain and Ireland, according to releases sent out in Ireland today. Setanta Media is a subsidiary of Setanta Sport, which is a huge closed circuit satellite broadcasting company.

Sentanta has signed a one year deal (not sure on the price they paid for the rights), taking over the rights previously held by BSkyB. Sky One and Sky Sports will still air regular WWE programming in the same markets.

Setanta already announced they will be carrying the Royal Rumble on PPV on 1/25. The rights to several PPV events which were not set to air on Sky in the UK were up in the air, leaving British fans in the cold to this point.

I expect there will be a press release regarding this tomorrow from WWE. One report out of Ireland listed WWE as owned by "ex-wrestler Vincent McMahon."

As long as they were free, I'd happily see Sentanta take over RAW, Smackdown, Heat and Velocity. And aquire Confidential whilst they're at it.

Still, no official word just yet.

It's only a possibility at the moment, I think.

And we will get WrestleMania XX...on Sentanta. It'll be worth £15, no?

And I'll be downloading them anyway. I might start selling WWE copied DVDs (TV rips) on my new website when I get it up and running.

Why are Sky Sports not showing them?
So that means:
No No way out
No Wrestlemania XX (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!)
No Judgement Day
No Summer Slam
No Unforgiven
No No Mercy
No Survior Series
That is so...GGGGRRR!
So is it from as of Today so we don't get Wrestlmania XX? If so, I may have to visit Sky Sports with a giant garden knome (Anyone who has seen Fawlty Towers will know what I mean!)

You see, the problem I have with paying for PPVs in this country is because we have ZERO opportunities to actually see one of these PPVs live, as in at the arenas. As the WWE is based in America, there is ample opportunity to see them live, so I believe that Americans should have to pay for PPVs.

However, the fact that now we have to pay for all of them goes to show that the WWE does not take their audiences into consideration and are driven by one thing, money. They continue downgrading the UK by not having one of the 12 PPV's in this country since Summerslam some years ago, then having silly PPVs that are meaningless to storylines and then downgrading us further by making these house shows.

I would guess that the majority (I could be wrong here) of the audience of the WWE in this country are teenagers. Where are teenagers going to get £14.99 or whatever the price is going to be every month? Every teenager I know spends their money the instant they get it from jobs or parents. I can't see many loyal fans being able to afford it.

The fact is, I technically wasn't getting WWE for free because I have to pay an extra cost for the viewing of Sky Sports. I refuse to pay a fee on top of a fee. This is all academic as I don't even receive Setanta Sports so I wouldn't be able to pay for it even if I was going to.

I'm sure some of you will consider what I've said as unfair but this is my view on it. By all means, comment on what I've said.

DW, any chance of a regular PPV deal? :D
