Is there such a thing as platonic relationships?

I have more male friends than female, and to be honest, most of them probably did think they were in there in the beginning, but once they realise I'm not interested, we build up a good friendship. I have a lot in common with the male species, and I usually end up talking to the blokes when I go out rather than the girls, cos blokes seem to have more to say, and being able to talk back to the blokes on a level that a lot of other girls, or their girlfriends can't, means that they respect me in a better way - it goes beyond fancying, into like sister ground. They would probably do more for me than some girl they are seeing, so yes you can be platonic friends. But it takes a certain type of person to pull it off! I would say I am very feminine too though, I can just relate to blokes and enjoy their company. These girls who claim to be 'ladettes' are just falsely labelling themselves, I have met lots of girls who say 'yeah I prefer blokes, I don't really get on with girls - I'm a ladette' then we go to the pub and they're with the girls all night talking about hair & make-up. I think girls think it's 'cool' to be a 'ladette', but it's not about acting a certain way to be accepted by the blokes as a mate, and not just some girl, it's about being yourself, and if you happen to be able to talk to blokes on a level, then cool, platonic friendships are happening!

I'd someone to define the word platonic for me. I'm not sure that any real friendships are platonic.

As for a girl being one of the lads, Its a shame that we have to seperate like that. I don't think a girl can be one of the lads, but I think she can still be a very valuble friend to a group of males. It also works in the other direction.

I don't think you can define masculine or feminine in terms of if they like games and movies. I'm a big fan of a lot of geeky/nerdy typically male things like Anime and Video Games, but I still define myself as female.

No, we have a female friend who claims to be a 'ladette', but it's only a theory - whenever we start talking about games or movies we like she glazes over.

Birds can be 'one of the lads' for the most part, but sometimes you just want to be with male only friends, especially when you're out on the lash. Women have a tendancy to get all hysterical and emotional when drunk.

I can only be friends with a girl if I don't fancy her, otherwise everything I do is tainted by trying to get her into bed.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
