I watch programmes like 'Passport to the Sun', 'A Place in the Sun' and the like, with people moving abroad to permanent sunshine, then I look out of the window at the grey, minging, freezing cesspit of perpetual depression and wonder if moving abroad would be as good as it looks.

What do you think? Could you live in a villa in the med, permanently? Or is it a case of 'A nice place to visit, but wouldn't wanna live there'?

My mouth is watering looking at all these bright sandy beaches (weird I know, sand isn't very good for your teeth). All we have got to look forward to here is 2 months of sun, and 10 months of freezing cold rain/sleet/crap. Even a bin man in Mallorca is probably happier than someone with a 'good' job here, simply because of the laid back lifestyle.

There is something grimly endearing about foggy mornings, dark afternoon skies and those wishywashy grey and green landscapes of Britain, but if I had the choice (if I had the necessary funds) I would sod off to a sunnier clim. I imagine life in a warmer place would be less of a grind somehow.

That sums up the British holiday attitude. Nothing agaisnt you Gamezfreak, but Ibiza and Cyrpus = Britain in a hot climate.

They don't count as real places.

The nearest city to me is Exeter. Exeter is much cleaner than any other city I've visited, and I have never ever seen any suspicious evil men poking their heads around corners and filching old ladies. Undoubtedly the do.

But then again, WTF happens in every city?!

"Clean and safe cities" - I think that needs revising.

I wouldn't choose to live anywhere else in the world.

Fertile climate, beautfiul scenery, wonderful people and friends, quality beaches and summers and clean and safe cities. Ah yes, Britain.

It's not all bad. Where I live anyway. And we have a relatively good government, law system etc.

I can't vouch for other places, but Gamezfreak, Barcelona, Paris, Lyon etc. Covered in rubbish and they smell, but are still lovely places.

It's not that Britain is ugly or rubbish. Just a lot of the people, like anywhere, are ill informed ignorant mongs who couldn't give a toss.

heh heh.

and as presenters for holiday programmes go, my current preference would be Ruth England on wish you were here today. I can't decide if she has a nice face or not, but there is no doubt she's got a 'back of the net' figure and seems to like wearing almost nothing all the time.

Pervert moi?
