I've been using Firebird 0.7 for a few days now, and I have to say I'm truly impressed. The main advantage over IE is the tabbed browsing, but it also loads equally as fast as IE, despite having 20+ plugins installed. Try it everyone.

Aye, same here. Just type google and it works.

Is there a way of typing out the name of a bookmark (as named by the user) into the URL bar and Mozilla/ Firebird highlight the possible links as you type? In IE, say you named a bookmark "Doughnuts" with the URL www.food.com/doughnuts, just typing out the word doughnuts will highlight the link to the favourite/bookmark, and hence the URL. But in Firebird I have to type the proper URL for it to work.

No when you press ctrl+enter after having typed an URL in the location bar.

Eg, type google.com and press enter:

Firebird goes to http://www.google.com.com/

Mozilla opens http://google.com in a new tab.

Which one is more useful? I wonder. Mozilla would go to http://www.google.com/ if you just typed "google" in the location bar anyway.

So does Firebird, so what's the difference?

Heh, must be Windows trying to manually slow down the competition then :)

So is it Mozila doesn't use the Ctrl Enter keyboard combo then, or is it used differently in Mozilla? Thunderbird completes a .com address for it, though it can also complete .net and .org ones too.

But they should realy do one for uk domains though.

My computer's too fast for that :-)

If Firebird replaces Mozilla I just won't upgrade. There are functional differences between the two (such as ctrl+enter behaviour on the location bar) that I couldn't handle.

Mozilla takes a long while to load, so hopefully Firebird will be the preferred choice.

I split my browsing about 50:50 between Mozilla and Firebird, almost at random. The roadmap says that Firebird is going to eventually be the browser included in the suite, though when that will happen I don't know.
