Storylines in my opinion are one of the most important, if not the MOST important thing for a computer game to have.

Yes, a lot of people would dis-agree with me, and say that you need good graphics or a story behind the main characters, but these are the things that i disagree with.

The games don't need to have good graphics to be a good game, because without a good storyline the game would be nothing, it would be boring.

OK, i admit that i do make comments on a game's graphics, saying whether they are good or not, but that doesn't stop me liking the game, if it has a good, strong storyline i will play it and most probably enyjoy it.

This reminds me of FFVII, poor graphics but a strong storyline behind it, and the background story also helps in making a good game because it can help you realise why they are getting involved in everything bad that is happening.

In RPG's like the Final Fantasy series there is always a twist in the Story which makes the game that bit more exciting, because if it was the same thing all the way through the game you would get bored.

You usually learn different things about the characters throughout the game, like with all the characters from FFIX you learn about their lives all the way through their journey up until disc 4, actually until the end of the game, and that is what makes it a good game because if you learnt everything from the beginning, no matter how good the graphics are the game would simply get repetative and boring.

The designers of games like these don't want you to get bored half way through the game or even the beginning so they concentrate more on the Story than on how good the graphics of the game are.

Squaresoft know exactly how to make a good game that RPG fans (like myself) can enjoy and thats why they are so successful.

Know what? I disagree with this totally. For me, the most important thing a game needs present is the ability to be fun. I don't care if the game's written by Orson Scott Card, if it isn't any fun to play, I'll give it up in a heartbeat. Tetris, for instance, had no story whatsoever, and it's one of the most mimicked games of all time. Same goes for most fighting games.

As for SquareSoft: They've been hit and miss the last couple of years. Parasite Eve 2 was attrocious and Bouncer has issues galore. Final Fantasy VII, for me, was blah...I'm sorry, but Final Fantasy without the fantasy is just, well...forgive me, Final. Final Fantasy VIII wasn't balanced well: "Oh, so if I just keep using GFs, there's no point of using strategy. Um...alright." Final Fantasy IX, however, was a step back in the right direction, despite the weirdness that is Kuja. [I will forever question his existence in that game.]

The only thing affiliated with SquareSoft that I'm really interested in at the moment is the Final Fantasy movie, which is sci-fi. *sigh* Why do they torture me?

Theres no denying that Square make some of the best games around but what happened to The Bouncer?? This was suppose to be the cream of all current PS2 titles. Im surprised that Squaresoft are actually allowing it to get a release without tweaking it in the gameplay department which it desperatly needs!! I cant see many people paying full price for a game which will last you about an hour!! Mind you thats the only bad game I know of coming from Square, oh and Driving Emotion!!
At the moment Im playing through Vagrant Story, now there is a decent game if ever I saw one!!!
