basically the main window, address bar in Explorer/a Folder is a minty green instead of white, rest of the screen is OK.

Suddenly happended today, am using XP and can't seem to get it back to white, please tell me it's not a hardware fault :( and is a setting that needs sorting, though I hav searched around and can't find anything wrong.

Thanks

Firstly check monitor cable is plugged in properly. If so, try monitor on another machine, if it is fine then it is more than likely a video card issue. I think you might have to open the computer case and make sure the video card is properly seated (following safety procedures - leave case plugged in to mains but switched off, touch case to earth yourself, etc). Just press the top of the card firmly - without bending the motherboard. If things are still bad, I would replace the video card. It's possibly a driver issue, but I don't think so.
