12/27/2003. According to various reports out of Spain (Marca) and Portugal (A Bola), Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in the services of Luis Figo for next season.

Abramovich has told Real Madrid to name their price, as Figo could be Chelsea's big summer signing.

But Alex Ferguson is also said to be interested in Figo and is also will to throw large sums of cash to secure the services of the Portuguese international.

However, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is said to be uninterested in parting with Figo due to his immense popularity with the club's supporters.

Figo has stated in the past that he would like to play in England before returning to Portugal and ending his career with Sporting Lisbon.

Well it's worth trying to get him instead of just letting him go to Chelsea. I think if Vieri is sensible he'd come to us seeing as we've actually got a proven recent history of winning titles and we're sitting top of the premiership. Of course with Roman's billions he could just offer Vieri a million pounds a minute on the pitch and get him that way.

But if Vieiri was made available, Roman would probably try and get him first.

Saha was worth the gamble at £2 Million i think Fulham paid for him but for £8-10 Million i'd rather we buy an experienced player who we know can do the job then risk that.

One of the sunday papers suggested Vieiri. Contract is up soon and he's unhappy apparently so if we can get him i'd tell the board to get their chequebook out and sign him. Imagine the damage he and Ruud could do together *drools* :-D

we'd never sell him to united though, it would be suicide for a reward we didn't need.

van der vaarts mum i comes from barcelona and she raised them all as barca supporters. He would like to go to barca, but im sure if chelsea or man u came in quick enough he'd go to them

Saha was top scorer a couple of seasons ago, albeit in division 1, but he helped fulham run away with the league title. He's quick, strong and has a great left. Ok so he's not been consistent, but i'd say he's probably worth a gamble....

About van der Vaart, he said he would most prefer to join Barcelona if he leaves Ajax.

A player I think would help Man Utd is Hasselbaink. I don't think Chelsea would ask for that high a transfer fee and if they do sell him they can easily look for a replacement. And, I think he would enjoy a few more first team games than he gets at Chelsea.

Yea that is true i am a bit worried he is a one season wonder, which is why i'd prefer Fergie to buy someone who can score 20+ goals a season and has proven already they can do that, instead of concentrating so heavily on who is and who isn't available for the rest of this years CL

my concern is that saha has scored 12 goals this season, but did nothing last year or the year before.

If it was someone like beattie who is consistently scoring 20 odd a season then i'd say fair enough, but to me saha is to much of a gamble.

Well i'll admit i'm not exactly jumping around the house with the prospect of signing Saha but anyone who manages to score 12 goals i think it is at Fulham in a lone strikers role is doing something decent. Imagine what he'll be like with the quality of service the midfield at United would offer him.

I myself would much prefer to buy someone of world class ability now and wait until next year for them to become available for the Champions League. Forlan is doing a decent enough job and with Solskjaer back available soon we have a decent enough chance of winning the CL anyway and Saha hasn't really played at that level yet so isn't proven.
