Not sure around the £350 mark, I was looking at the rg550/570, but I'm told the whole range is very good. Got a friend with a 370 and that plays nicely too, but second hand 550s are available if you look around a bit. I was playing on one in Marks Music in cambridge the other day...mmm :D
I'm in the market for a new guitar, my budget's anything up to and around £350, and I want a guitar that packs a punch for power chords as well as solo-ing, AND one with a fast smooth neck. Breaking free from my Strat, if you will.
Any suggestions? I was thinking of an Ibanez RG (and yes, I am going to 'try before I buy' so don't bother with a load of witty 'OMGZ telling u iz uzelezz' remarks plz, k thx).
Oh, and I have a Strat and there ain't anything wrong with 'em.

Oh and see when people go "Squierz R crp", don't believe them. I have both a Squier Strat and a Yamaha. Guess which is better (really)? Yeah, the Squier. It is after all a Fender subsidiary. Sure, some of them are poor, but trying before you buy solves that problem, I've certainly tried poor Yamahas.
Actually though... if you want something like that go for an Ibanez GRX170.
Squier Strats have 3 single-coil pickups which will provide a wonderfully attractive buzz when overdriven. So wonderful you'll want to throw the guitar out the window.

^^^ ignore him if it's for a beginner, just get a squier strat from one of the websites suggested below ;)
