What the f### is Donnie Darko all about?*

I saw it last night and it made no sense at all...





*I realise this should be in the movies forum, but it's my Question of the Day so it goes in here, right?

guy pearce is a great actor. I also have Ravenous, which is another great film with him in. If you haven't seen it I'd recommend it.

It would be a fairly boring story in normal order.

That's what makes it so great =)

I have the DVD

*smug grin*

it has an extra on it which lets you watch it in chronological order.

that's for the thickies though I think :D

The film is loaded with classic moments.

Must buy the DVD actually....

no. I'll wait til after christmas. Nothing worse than opening a DVD gift, and going "Oh... thanks" while looking over at the same thing on the DVD shelf.

That scene had tears rolling down my face with laughter. Classic.

no, the best bit was where he woke up with a whiskey bottle in his hand, which he had intended to use to knock that guy out.

Nope. Loved "Memento". Really liked "Donnie Darko" and loved "Mulholland Drive" (I'm a big Lynch fan, and have been for years)

The best intentionally confusing film I've ever seen is Memento.

It's fricking awsome, ingeneius, not pretentious, intelligent, twisty-turny, and you can get your head around everything at first viewing - but only if you concentrate.


Donnie Darko felt like a bit of a let-down, but probably only because it'd been hyped up a lot.
So maybe you'll all hate Memento now? :^)

I still can't see why you don't like this movie.
You don't have to worry about plot, Geena Davis isn't in it and then you get full-on lesbian sex.
Perfecto.

And Donnie Darko is NOTHING to do with time travel at all, despite the repeated "Time travel eh?" discussions.
It's about parallel dimensions.
Awful, awful film.
