Who needs a console, buy a PC (new one). They've got cheaper games, good lastability (actually the Pentium 3 7ooMHz will soon become obsolete, things just got moving fast! Well that's probably not true), better graphics, better choice of games, more fun peripherals, amazing speed internet connection possibilities, any kind of drive you need, Hard drives... The list is almost endless. Oh yes, they are about twice the price of a PS2, which is pretty good considering they are about 30 times better (see now why the PS2 is overpriced?). If you absolutely, positively have to buy some form of console... I would wait for the Gamecube. My reasons: 1)The N64 is not having many more games made since it's about to be replaced. 2) The Gamecube looks good and will have the excellent standard of games associated with nintendo consoles. 3) The Dreamcast is getting a bit older now and despite the quality of the games it will probably move to a corner in every shop because of all the new consoles and games coming out now. 4) The PS2 isn't worth the price and then the games are too expensive (those swines!), still if you've got more money than Bill Gates the games do look good quality but I still think the Gamecube would be better. 5) The X-Box is a gamble, it's just a PC Console thing anyway, which they are all becoming and you'd be just as well getting a top of the range PC (or bottom for the prices at Special Reserve with their Maxx PCs, the P3 700 should still last a while yet). 6) The PSone is too old (and all the games run on the PS2 anyway).
That'll do anyway, so get a PC or a Gamecube, that would be your best choice. Oh and if you can't decide between the two, go read about Black & White and look at the screenshots... That'll make your decision for you! (Unless you would prefer First person shooters... did you ever hear of Half-Life? or Deus Ex? Possibly Strategy games like Age of Empires? Or maybe Role Playing Games like Baldur's Gate.)

Today I decided to read Digitiser for the first time. I wouldn't say they are biased... but certainly think Gamecube is the best of the three up and coming ones...
