In modern day society some people place a lot of stock on peoples appearance. However to contrast that there are many people who believe that it is the personality inside that really counts. I myself like to think that it is the personality that counts however I have been known to be vain, patronising, shallow and down right stupid. This, I gather means that my personality is not desirable. If I was better looking though would that compensate for that? Could I count on the shallowness of other people to make friends and generally be popular?

Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Colin Farrell and Keanu Reeves. How many guys here would KILL to have their looks, their talents and their personality? I know I would love to be just like them. However making idols out of celebrities is arguably one of the shallowest things you can do. It is however undeniable that the before mentioned celebs have girls (and some guys) falling over themselves to catch a glimpse of them. Looks can change everything in your world but is this a strength of society? Is it a good thing that anyone can live a rich and full life despite their qualifications and so on, or is this a horrible failing in which many hard working and educated people get overlooked?

On the other side of the coin many people make livings simply by voicing their thoughts and feelings. However it's not as common. Most people who have a good personality are those who work regular jobs with the rest of us but don't have Halle Berry for a girl friend. In my opinion many celebrities would do well to have a "normal" boyfriend. Is the reason that celebrity marriages rarely last because you can't have the looks and the personality?

I don't know the answers to any of these questions but what I do know is we are living in a very materialistic age in which big boys want their big toys and big girls want their big jewels. If we each like our pretty things are we all looking for a pretty partner and personality can be damned? I want to believe that a personality counts but I just don't know.

I stick £250 a month into my savings. £100 a month isn't much really.

*opens finance_tracker.xls*

I spend more than that every month on takeaway.

And alcohol.

And council tax (not much I can do about that one though)

Oh, and "other misc exp." is about £150 a month too.

Yeah, don't think even women spend that much on clothes shopping.

*thinks a bit more*

OK, maybe they do.

I have the dress sense typical of any bloke in his mid-20's who gives precisely not one toss about clothes and fashion; none. However, I have come up with a method for getting round this that gives the best of all worlds...

My good friend Emma took one look at my wardrobe and started shouting at me. She then took me clothes shopping and picked out a lot of rather trendy stuff. I am now treated vastly differently by shallow people. However as I want to impress/sleep with some of these shallow people, I am immensely grateful to Emma.

So now, I've set aside £100 per month and asked a different female friend (always ask the women; ask a bloke to take you clothes shopping and you may as well hand over your Heterosexuality membership card) to take me shopping every month. And so, I have a rapidly increasing and stylish wardrobe, but I don't have to pollute my head with thoughts of something as trivial as fashion. Everyone's a winner!

I don;t know why but I'm suddenly thinking of some ugly bloke waking up next to his ugly bird, rolling over to her and saying "honey, you know I love you, but you sure is ugly" and the look of complete shock that his bird greets him with.

I need help.

Well, it's often said that you look for someone much-like yourself in a mate...

That's why fat people often get together. I mean, how many 18-stone "lard-arrrsed" men do you see paired-up with incredibley-attractive, fit, gorgeous women, eh!? That's it - they're too different.

Each fat person knows how the other feels. Therefore, they can 'relate' and gain a good amount of understanding, trust and respect between the 2 of them. If one was fat and the other wasn't, they'd only look at each-other differently, almost "judgingly" [I think I just made that word up?].

But, of course, you also look for similarities in the other person's actual personallities.

People may think all you need is a "fit bird"... But what you will find is that many of them actually turn out to be quite thick and idle - just like they are made-out to be, stereotypically.
Then again... No matter how well you get on, how would you feel waking up next to someone 3-times-your-size, every-morning, for the rest of your life....?!?! :S

What I want is someone who's like a very-good friend, only, you get along even better than that. Of course, she's got to be attractive so I'm always that extra-bit happier to see her. But if it's too much, you'll get the wrong kind of attention, and you'll be with the wrong girl.
You've got to both feel something, and you've both got to work-hard to make it work and keep it going.

Great looking but air headed and irritating as hell?

Not so good looking but a great friend and enjoyable company with similar interests who you can spend all your time with?

I know what I’d prefer.

Of course, when you get the best qualities of both………….. CHA CHING!
