Why do we spend our lives accumulating crap that we don’t need and constantly try to better ourselves when we know the inevitable, we are all going to die. The average life expectancy is, at a guess, 80. Now the average person stays in education until being 21, gets a job and works until being about 65 and then spends the last 15 years of their life being too old to enjoy the freedom and retirement money.

This, to me at least, seems pointless. I don’t want to conform to a life like that; I want to appreciate life whilst I am young enough to do so. I don’t want to work 9-5 and wear a tie to work. I want to be comfortable and do things when I want. I don’t want to have to have a piece of paper and a circle of metal to tell a woman I love her, nor do I want to use my “freedom to vote” to elect a greedy politician.

I want to do my part to better the world and not see it destroyed by under privileged youths with no better way to express their angst. I want to be able to write poetry without it being gay and I want to be able to make blonde jokes without being branded a bigot. I don’t want to be a politically correct clone of the editor of The Guardian, nor do I want to start a conversation about ‘That Korean immigrant that served me at McDonalds.”

Life is short and you shouldn’t worry about taking it seriously. Live for the moment and enjoy yourself whilst you can. Don’t push things back and hope that taking your girlfriend to a cheaper restaurant will save some money for central heating when you are a wrinkly old statistic. Chances are you’ll die before you reach that age. Take risks, try bungee jumping and tightrope walking and if you die doing it you might make a column in a newspaper, to me that it better that dying in my sleep and making the obituaries column of the local freebie paper.

Life is reklatively short if you think about it. Earth has been around for 4.8 billion years, and you can only expect to live for about 80 of them.

But it's still too short to be able toi do everything you've always wanted to do. Unless you're really boring, obviously.

its not short if you compare it to living for a nanosecond

Words of God/Bill Corgan:

'Pumpkins are just an excuse not to get a job, just play the stuff we love'

Or like that.

Well done Kyz, you uncovered a bit of reality.

Peopl are trained and then sucked into a never ending cycle.....well, until they are around 50/60. Then they die.

You just have to live it the best you can. Mortgages etc tie one down and so nobody ever can truly 'break out' unless they forego materialistic comforts - We get dangled them, we take, and we are pushed downwards because of it.

So you say life's too short and take time writing that? To be perfectly honest, who cares, do what the hell you want to do with your life; whether you waste away in front of a TV screen or actually do something, it's your decision and you're the only one who knows what's best for you.

Either that or escape to the jungle to be brought up by apes and gorillas and stuff.

Well I suppose BB guns are not too bad.

Me, Algy and Max all had them and went and messed around in the woods in Colorado. In the middle of the night. I can't deny it was fun.
