Everyone expected that. It was also a given that old has-been Chelsea players would crawl out of the woodwork and start proclaiming glory for the new era. Well, nice one you bunch of idiots, I needed you to tell me that spending £100 million on players would up the chances of a club getting silverware.
However, the latest headline on BBC Sport is "Nevin backs Chelsea glory". Fair enough, another old has-been having his two-cents, but the statement below the headline reads: "Exclusive: Former Chelsea star Pat Nevin tells BBC Sport the Stamford Bridge revival is "the real deal." "
Excuse me? The real deal? Are you sick? Chelsea are a joke. The fantasy football team of the premiership. They're only where they are because of the fanciful investment of a random billionaire. There's nothing real about them at all.
I'm happy to admit that Chelsea have a good chance this season. I'm happy to say they have a strong squad, capable of beating anyone on the day, but please don't expect me to believe that there is anything "real" about them. I still believe that their sugar-daddy is bad for the overall game.
Bloody fogies. Why can't they just sit at home smoking their pipes. Why do they have to jump up and down like loons to get their face in the papers and tell me things I'm already aware of? And why does this particular Nevin chap not have a clue?
;)
Bah, ruddy abramovic ruining the Premiership, watch Chelsea win the title with a 15-point gap.
Expect to see a lot of Chelsea "Fans" appearing soon...
With that kind of cash, he could easily jump-ship to Real Madrid or
> Barcelona of do things with them, there
No, I read somewhere he can't do that to Spanish clubs.
So three premiership clubs have offered him a contract with Liverpool not being one of them. Surely only Man u, Chelsea and Newcastle can afford his wages? Considering he has apaprently turned down a $1,000,000 a month offer from Qatar.
Although i wouldnt rule out Bolton signing him :D
The only thing to do is buy the club and sell the players sharpish...
But I'd be very surprised to see him still in-charge at Stamford Bridge in, say... 3-years-time. No, not Ranieri - Abramovich!
Who's to say that once he's done with Chelsea, he'll be 'done' altogether?
While he's investing a heck-of-a-lot of money in the club now, just think of how much more he'll be making when this team turns `Un-stoppable´...!
With that kind of cash, he could easily jump-ship to Real Madrid or Barcelona of do things with them, there - restoring their repuatations as the greatest team in Europe. And then, once he's done with them, it'll be time for another club - perhaps, in Serie A, this time?
Once he's taken one team as far as he possibly can, it wouldn't be hard for him to find any "under-achiever" and, finally, turn the good; ruining one-more club, and another league in the world of football.
But there's gotta be a "Skeleton" in his cupboard, somewhere...
Either that, or we get a Hitman! How else can he be stopped?!
He may have money, but he hasn't any brains!
They're the idealistic dream of a man with a bit too much money, but he's creating a long-term problem because of it.
Even the big teams won't be able to compete with him, and it will soon be a case of Chequebook -V- Chequebook, not Chelsea -V-Premiership Side.
