Here I disagree. It still gets played at least twice a week. Even if it's not as good as previous versions (I haven't played alot of them compared to DD) it's hardly "abysmal". Quit over-reacting just because it isn't as good as some of your childhood memories tell you the SNES or 64 versions were.
It'll do, but most people with have another console aswell.

A really poor multiplayer effort next to the N64 one.

There's nothing stupid about it: It's called making an informed decision. Nintendo haven't given us any worthy information and their consoles out later.
