Can't wait till Sunday's game, going to be a cracker.
He's too wasteful for my liking. How often do we see Giggs or van Nistelrooy do things like that when a single-goal could really make a difference!? That so-called "free-kick" of his towards the end of the match was a prime-example.
Honestly. I don't see how Fergie saw him fit to last the full 90 minutes!
He does have good games, and he does score good goals. But even then he makes a lot of mistakes - and those are what we cannot afford against big-teams like Chelsea... And they're still not even up to the standards of Real Madrid, yet!
He'd better by someone else in January, or else...!!
5 goals in 7 starts, what more do you want?
I really did not understand Fergie's approach to the game though...
When you know you're going to be up against world-class players like Claude Makelele, Frank Lamapard, Damien Duff or Joe Cole... and Geremi - just for starters! - then, surely you have to at least TRY and match that with your own team...??
But instead, he cocked-it-up - once again!
Giggs on the right... Why not play the SKILLFUL, PORTUGUESE winger Cristiano Ronaldo? With his trickery, pace and vision - and the fact that HE's actually right-footed - he's have been ideal for the job, up against side full of internation `Stars´.
Giggsy should've been on the left - where he plays best. Either that, or he should've at least been playing in Forlan's position - and what a terrible game he had too (I really am losing patience with him...!).
Quinton Fortune should've been the left-back, for me. Not John O'Shea. Again, for the type of players he was up against, we needed someone with the pace and 'difference' to at least match them. O'Shea just seemed to struggle at times.
But aside from that, he couldn't have chosen a better defence (unless Sepp Splutter had gotten his way...!), and Tim Howard had one of his best games yet; despite conceeding the penalty.
The centre and "Heart" of the midfield I also felt was all-wrong.
Why pick Phil Neville - a DEFENER still very in-experienced in his new-found role - when you have "the English Roy Keane" [Nicky Butt] on the bench who is far more capable, experienced, and determined in "his" position??
And then there was the attack...
Why you cannot replace Ruud van Nistelrooy, what you CAN replace is his strike-partner. People can say he 'needs' someone to play-with - but just look at how-well he has done on his own (eg. the 6-0 Scotland game).
Someone should've been playing off him; like Scholes usually does.
Maybe Bellion should've been given a start... No, not because of his new hair-style! But Diego Forlan just.... it didn't happen for him at all, last night.
I've stood by him for months. So-many months; so-many games; until he finally hit his first goal for the club. And, despite what we were led-to-believe, it was not "the first of many". Yes, he's grabbed some 'important' goals in the big-games, but where was he yesterday then - in, arguably, a game that could have a strong-effect on where to Title goes at the end of this season...?!
He's NOT brilliant. He's barely the South American `star´ we were all hoping he would develop into. He's just wasteful and too in-experienced.
Yes, he can finish. But playing him against the ``Chelski super-team´´ was a big mistake. He isn't up to the standards of the others around him.
And, with Paul Scholes and Ole Soslkjaer still out, this is exactly WHY we need another striker next month, if, ever, we are to play 4-4-2 again!
(...But no-one will be signed - just you wait!)
Giggs on his own in the midfield to create, if he fails to provide balls in for our strikers then there's noone else in the midfield to do so and thats exactly what happened.
Too many defensive type players and many of which were playing in the wrong position (Giggs on the right wing? Fortune on the left?) which doesn't really surprise me because Fergie is generally prone to this kind of thing.
We depend too much on a few players, if they are out then we dont have the neccessary reinforcements.
We really need a couple of decent players to boost our squad, I just hope Fergie knows that.
But it was an overall poor performance from the entire team, so I doubt that one change would have had much effect.
Ferguson's team selection was terrible. You have a 12 Million pound wonderkid who can skin defenders for fun you scottish moron why on earth are you playing Fortune ahead of him and putting Giggs in a position he is not suited to. He's a left footer if you hadn't noticed over the past 12 or so years.
I won't even start on selecting Phil Neville because i'll probably get banned with all the swearing that will entail.
No shots on target is terrible for a team like United and just went to show what a rubbish day this was. Horrible team selection as i said resulted in no width and no service for the strikers. Forlan had to keep drifting over to actually give an option out wide but when he crossed it in Ruud had about 3 players marking him.
If the rumours are true and Fergie has money to spend in January he needs to spend it on a midfielder and striker. Ruud can't do it on his own and we need someone who can provide width. But then again with Fergie's team selections he'd probably buy someone like Nedved and stick him in goal.
At least Arsenal didnt win today.
And they didnt even score!!!!!!!!!!!

The penalty on replay was definitely a penalty, but from the referee's viewpoint, it was 50-50, but Utd didn;t deserve to get anything out of this game, so whinging about that decision is a bit pointless.
Ranieri's tactics did work a charm though, using a narrow midfield selection to choke Neville and Keane.
Oh well.
