We have some decent young players for the future but also need players for the here and now.
Once Scholes and Ole return this will relieve the situation somewhat but that alone isn't enough.
It was just a general accusation that if someone's injured (in the required position), then someone of Ronaldo's experience (or lack thereof) should be named as the only suitable replacement.
I don't think Utd have compensated for the loss of Beckham yet.
Once Ronaldo came on he was put on the right wing and Giggs moved over to the left and it was much more balanced midfield and it worked - the game swung United's way and we stretched them on the wings.
If this had been the case from the very start, we may have had a chance to get something from the game.
The truth is Ronaldo & Butt/Kleberson should have started the game, and if players were playing in their correct positions we may have got something out of the game - as it happens we took the negative approach and got punished for it.
Both of them (certainly at the moment) shouldn't warrant their places in a Man Utd team, I'm sure you'll agree.
Ronaldo should have been there from the off.

I'm sorry to all the United fans for saying this, but overall this season, Ronaldo is nothing special. A few tricks and shimmies here and there, and he loses the ball. He's hardly a Ryan Giggs, and I wouldn't expect to be. But for that notion, I believe that he certainly shouldn't be getting in the United squad week-in week-out.
This result wasn't Forlan's fault, it's a team game and if the strikers don't get service - they won't score simple as that.
just look at the stats of shot's on traget and that will tell you how many chances we had.
Forlan was mch more livlier than van Nistlerooy yesterday and had to make chances himself because Giggs and Ruud were marked out the game. Like you said "30 yard efforts" this had to be done since there were no intelligent balls through to the strikers from the midfield.
Personally the result yesterday was down to team selection in the midfield - the game was won because Chelsea's midfield was stronger and a lot more balanced than ours.
> He'd better by someone else in January, or else...!!
Agreed, but somehow I fear the worst....
