"At 15:39 on the 25th a vital section of the internet backbone used by our upstream, an 640GB/sec undersea cable called TAT-14 North, went down, crippling EU<->US communications. Connections that worked were slower due to the extra load. It was restored at about 07:46 on the 26th. We apologise for any inconvenience."

Yeah not NTL's fault. I have ADSL via Pipex and had a spot of trouble for only a few mins. Connection went slow around 4pm and reconnected and pages wouldnt load etc. I only affected me for a few mins really. So maybe NTL also had faults of their own at the same time. But with a major transatlantic backbone down the whole of the UKs network would have suffered not just NTL.

Read what adrian wrote please, it wasn't NTLs fault
NTL said it would be 'back to normal' between midnight and 6am.. it started working properly half an hour ago. Damn fiends.
