Found on a DCC Hub

"At 15:39 on the 25th a vital section of the internet backbone used by our upstream, an 640GB/sec undersea cable called TAT-14 North, went down, crippling EU<->US communications. Connections that worked were slower due to the extra load. It was restored at about 07:46 on the 26th. We apologise for any inconvenience."

Yeah not NTL's fault. I have ADSL via Pipex and had a spot of trouble for only a few mins. Connection went slow around 4pm and reconnected and pages wouldnt load etc. I only affected me for a few mins really. So maybe NTL also had faults of their own at the same time. But with a major transatlantic backbone down the whole of the UKs network would have suffered not just NTL.

There was a major backbone outage today between the USA and UK. I had problems earlier getting webpages up.
