"Gif anim or Flash?"

I'm making a site for me and some techie chums at Uni, and if it takes off it could be quite big. I've made a small logo/header for the top of the page, with the site name on, looks a bit pretty etc... My problem is that I can either use a gif animation, which in my opinion is a bit tacky, but does the job well, quick and you don't need a plug in to view it, or a Flash anim that loads in more or less the same time, and might be seen as a bit more...good? It'll load in about 2 seconds either way, but I'm not sure which method is more acceptable to use. Suggestions?

If it looks the same, go for the gif.

That's 100% compatable instead of something like 95%...

It'll look exactly the same, and it won't be faster to load. It'll load in more or less the same time as the gif anim.

Flash is becoming increasingly more popular now plus the plugin is coming pre-installed with new computers.

Before it would have been a no-go area with Flash but now I can't really see why people would object to it? It looks better and is faster to load.

Don't use flash unless you absolutely have to.
